Las Tortugas Butter!

For better or worse, the Bouse-Eaton clan will not be making it to Las Tortugas this year. :-( But there’s good news about Butter for those of you lucky enough to have cabins or those of you who might consider camping or staying off-site. Butter will be performing on both Thursday night (October 30, at the kickoff party) and on Halloween. The Thursday night slot isn’t until 11:15 pm, which gives you Cali folks plenty of time to get to the lodge after work and still catch some Las Tortugas kickoff Butter. Shoot, with the time difference, you could even make it in from the Midwest or east coast in plenty of time to catch the show. ;-)

If this news is tempting to any of you still without tickets, lodging and ticket info. can be found at: evergreenhalloween.inticketing.com. Apparently, there is still reserved camping available on-site, as well as free camping just across the street and several hotels and B&Bs within 5 miles of Evergreen Lodge. And if you haven't been to the lodge in late October, you're missing out. It's absolutely gorgeous!

Please spread the word about the 11:15 Thursday slot to any other boards or folks you think might be interested. And have fun!!!

much love,

Susi

According to Google Maps, it's 5 hours and 40 minutes from my office in LA to Groveland. Let's see...11:15 minus 5 hours is 6:15, then 6:15 minus 40 minutes is 5:35 pm. Add 5 minutes to get from my desk to the car means I need to shut down at 5:30 pm. I hope there's no traffic!

Just an update on the hotels that were supposedly within 5 miles of the lodge. Yoster did the checking that I should have done before passing on the info., and here's what he came up with. The nearby hotels aren't quite as nearby as I was led to believe. Thanks, Greg, for keeping me honest! And there is still on-site camping and free camping available across the street.

    Mea culpa!!

    From Greg:
Yosemite Westgate (I think this is the one by Buck's Meadow?)
    13.9 mi – about 23 mins

    Yosemite Riverside Inn
    12.7 mi – about 25 mins

    Groveland Hotel
    27.1 mi – about 44 mins

    Hotel Charlotte
    same dist. as above

    Yosemite Rose
    23.0 mi – about 45 mins

It's several months away and I already can't wait. Last year was so much fun, I certainly can't pass it up a second time...especially with Butter there.

Has anyone done the camping route? How cold was it in the wee hours?

Careful w/ those mapquest driving directions if you plan on going the South gate way because in '05 my family and I followed mapquest and ended up heading out the East gate toward Tioga pass. Luckily we left early and got to evergreen a good 45 minutes alter then planed.
          Peace

Camping is a really good option. It gets chilly at night, but nothing too cold. The warm fuzzy feeling that you have inside keeps you warm! I knew many people that camped last year and had a great time so I'm camping this year. There's a great FREE spot directly across the road from Evergreen Lodge about 3.5 minutes from the main stage.

      I say CAMP!
